In the Heights

"I'm not really into musicals but this one was pretty entertaining. Some of the subplots were a little confusing but the essence of this movie is an immigrant story about love, hope, inspiration and a basic sense of community in the melting pot that is Washington Heights. The acting was average at best and the movie's runtime was too long, but what sets this movie apart is the many wonderful musical numbers throughout the film. I found myself tapping my feet and actually dancing in my seat more than a few times. That alone is worth the price of admission. 6.5/10"

This musical is filled with fantastic music and a feel-good vibe that will make you wish you lived in Washington Heights. While the show does have a beautiful story, it does lack in acting a bit. Some of the plot lines had me a bit confused, but overall this musical is an excellent watch for when you are looking for a great musical and a feel-good movie. I rate this musical a 3.5/5.
